Telegram founder Pavel Durov has been arrested in France on prices of enabling unlawful transactions, failure to supply paperwork to authorities, complicity in possessing little one sexual abuse materials and in distributing CSAM, complicity within the distribution of medicine, complicity in organized fraud and cash laundering.

This has naturally created controversy, with many calling it politically motivated, an assault on free speech, and oddly sufficient, an assault on encrypted messaging. I am not going to wade into something about political hit jobs or free speech, however I do have to say one factor—the encryption argument is not actually legitimate as a result of Telegram is not all the time encrypted.
